The biogeography of genus Linaria was revealed by the available chromosome counts from all over the world. Chromosome numbers of 92 taxa of the genus Linaria are included in an on-line karyological database. Furthermore, information about chromosome numbers taken from 374 literature sources was used in this paper. Each database record includes name of taxon, data on chromosome and data on the origin of the material and species-area distribution. Each database also provides a reported chromosome number and place of publication. More than half of the available species in chromosome data are diploid or consist of both diploid and polyploid populations and a few numbers of the species are polyploid. For the first time, in this study, mitosis and meiosis chromosome numbers of 13 populations belonging to three species, namely L. lineolata Boiss (2n = 2x = 12), L. fastigiata Chav. (2n = 2x = 12) and L. dalmatica (L.) Mill. (2n = 2x = 12), were determined by examining anthers. In addition, pollen stainability has been documented in Linaria populations in Iran.

Abstract
In this study the original mitotic chromosome counts are presented for 5 Onobrychis species of O. sect. Onobrychis in Iran, 2n = 2x = 14 for O. persica, 2n = 4x = 28 for O. viciifolia, 2n = 4x = 28 for O. altissima, 2n = 2x = 14 for O. shahpurensis and 2n = 2x = 14 for O. sosnovskyi. In this study the original mitotic chromosome counts are presented for 5 Onobrychis species of O. sect. Onobrychis in Iran, 2n = 2x = 14 for O. persica, 2n = 4x = 28 for O. viciifolia, 2n = 4x = 28 for O. altissima, 2n = 2x = 14 for O. shahpurensis and 2n = 2x = 14 for O. sosnovskyi. The basic chromosome numbers of all studied taxa are consistent with the proposed base number of x = 7. In addition, the meiotic chromosome number of 2n = 4x = 28 for O. viciifolia and O. altissima and of 2n = 2x = 14 for O. sosnovskyi and O. persica are reported here. This study is the first report on the chromosome counts of O. persica and O. shahpurensis. All studied taxa displayed regular bivalent pairing and chromosome segregation at meiosis. However, some abnormalities were observed in the taxa are discussed.

In the present paper, the cytogenetic study including meiotic chromosome number and behavior along with
pollen viability were performed in 4 populations of Trigonella spruneriana Boiss. This is the first cytogenetic
report of the taxon. All populations are diploid and possess 2n = 2x = 16 chromosome number, which is
consistent with the proposed basic number of x = 8. In addition, some meiotic irregularities observed in
different populations included chromosomes stickiness, B-chromosomes, chromosome bridges resulting from
stickiness, the occurrence of laggard chromosomes, formation of micronuclei in tetrad cells and cytomixis. The
highest and the lowest percentages of pollen viability were observed in populations SPR 658 and SPR 566,
respectively.

The genus Onobrychis belongs to family Fabaceae and has about 130 species throughout the world.
Onobrychis sect. Hymenobrychis with nearly 14 species in Iran is one of the important sections of the genus.
The chromosome number and meiotic behaviour were studied in two populations of Onobrychis chorassanica
belonging to this section native to Iran. This report is the first cytogenetic analysis of this taxon. Both
populations are diploid and possess 2n = 2x = 14 chromosome number, consistent with the proposed base
number of x = 7. Although these taxa displayed regular bivalent pairing and chromosome segregation at
meiosis, some meiotic abnormalities were observed. The meiotic abnormalities included varied degrees of
chromosome stickiness including B-chromosome, cytomixis, asynchronous nucleus, fragmented chromosomes,
occurrence of laggard chromosomes, chromosome bridges, desynapsis, micronucleous and tripolar cells.
